ITC Invest Trading & Consulting A.G. developed the Mamak Landfill gas recovery and Gas Utilisation Project. The Mamak landfill is located in the city of Ankara. Infrastructural works for collection of landfill gas has been completed as well as installation of gas engines with a total capacity of 14 MW. The project also includes the construction of a bio-digester for treatment of organic waste. Biogas from the bio-digester will also be used for electricity generation. Upon full completion, the project will reach 30 MW of capacity.

Standard
This project is seeking Gold Standard (GS) VER status. An initial stakeholder consultation was conducted on 26 November 2007. Project Applicant no. GS 440
The Gold Standard requires additional social & environmental project benefits, such as creating jobs & enhancing local economies. It is backed by 50 NGO’s, among which the WWF.
Baseline Methodology
The emissions reductions were calculated using the UNFCCC consolidated methodology ACM0001, version 8. The project is currently under validation by the accredited designated operational (DOE) entity TÜV SÜD.
Additionality
The additionality is demonstrated using the “CDM Tool for Additionality”. The barrier analysis method was chosen.
